Ed Engle

Michael Ames and I spent the weekend on the Norfork River camping just below the Dam. We were there to attend a program on Fly Fishing and Tying Small flies put on by the North Arkansas Fly Fishers an Affiliate club of the Federation of Fly Fishers. Ed Engle was the speaker. He talked on fly fishing at 10 AM and at 1 PM with a book signing in between. His afternoon talk was followed by a fly tying demonstration. Boundary Water Canoe Area

At the end of May, 2012, David Weingold and I made our 7th fishing trip to the Boundary Water Canoe Area (BWCA). If you have never been to the BWCA, you should really plan a trip there. The scenery is beautiful and the fish are cooperative and big. If you are not comfortable in planning your own trip, there are a number of outfitters that are willing to help. They can even provide a guide if you desire. We have always used Canoe Country Outfitters in Ely, Minnesota and I can highly recommend them. Continue reading

Rough Hands

In my profession, I wash my hands a lot.  As a result, they are rough and dry.  This causes problems with trying to tie with floss or other light material.  They catch on my rough skin or my hands cause fraying of the material.  Using lotion on you hands helps.  But some are greasy or leave a residue on your hands causing your tying material to absorb the lotion and looking dirty.  Continue reading
